Soliddd Corporation, a New York–based optical technology company, unveiled its SolidddVision smart glasses at CES 2025 in Las Vegas. The glasses, designed to assist people with macular degeneration, provide true vision correction for the condition.
Using proprietary lens arrays, SolidddVision projects multiple images onto undamaged areas of the retina, enabling the brain to construct a complete, clear visual field. This innovative technology bypasses areas affected by macular degeneration, restoring a level of sight that users describe as life changing.
The lightweight smart glasses are currently in beta testing, and are set for market introduction in 2025, the company said in a press release. A study by New York’s Lighthouse Guild showed that participants with macular diseases improved their reading ability by 50% or more. Soliddd said that it plans to expand the technology's applications, targeting a growing market of 200 million people globally affected by macular degeneration.
