Optos PLC has announced that its reference database for the Monaco and MonacoPro imaging platforms is now the largest of its kind in the United States. The database provides eyecare professionals with a comprehensive dataset for evaluating retinal layer thickness and optic nerve head metrics, supporting the detection of conditions such as diabetic macular edema and glaucoma.
The database comprises 879 eyes from individuals aged 22 to 84 and was developed using data from nine clinical sites. The dataset is integrated exclusively into the Monaco and MonacoPro platforms, providing clinicians with improved guidance for patient assessments.
Robert Kennedy, chief executive officer of Optos, stated that the expanded database reflects the company’s commitment to advancing clinical tools. “With the largest reference database of its kind in the US, Optos continues to set the standard for precision and innovation in ophthalmic imaging,” Kennedy said in a press release.
Optos has been a leader in retinal imaging for over 30 years, with more than 27,000 devices in use globally. The company continues to focus on innovation in ultrawidefield and spectral domain optical coherence tomography technology to improve early disease detection and patient outcomes. RP
