Retinal Physician, the premier journal for retina specialists, is proud to announce the appointment of Diana V. Do, MD, as its new editor in chief. Dr. Do, vice chair of clinical affairs and professor of ophthalmology at the Byers Eye Institute, Stanford University School of Medicine in Palo Alto, California, brings unparalleled clinical and academic expertise to this esteemed role.
Dr. Do succeeds Peter K. Kaiser, MD, who served as editor in chief for 12 years after taking over in 2012 from the journal’s founding editor in chief, Jason S. Slakter, MD. Under Dr. Kaiser’s guidance, Retinal Physician evolved into a trusted global resource, renowned for providing retina specialists with actionable insights into advances in AMD, diabetic retinopathy, retinal vascular disease, uveitis, inherited retinal degenerations, imaging, and surgical intervention in posterior-segment care.
Reflecting on her new role, Dr. Do said, “I am honored to accept the role of editor in chief of Retinal Physician. I congratulate Dr. Kaiser on the outstanding leadership he has provided over the past 12 years. I am excited to collaborate and work alongside the retina community to deliver the highest quality publication that shares insights on cutting-edge advancements in clinical care, surgery, research, and innovation.”
Dr. Do’s appointment heralds an exciting new chapter for the journal, which remains committed to providing practical, high-quality content that translates groundbreaking science into real-world applications. One of her goals as editor in chief will be to help expand the journal’s digital presence and global reach, ensuring that retina specialists everywhere have easy access to the latest news in subspecialty-related patient care.
“Dr. Diana Do’s depth of experience in both clinical care and academic research makes her ideally suited to lead Retinal Physician in this new era,” said Jennifer Ford, content director, vision, for Conexiant, the publisher of the journal. “Her forward-thinking vision will ensure that RP will continue to meet the evolving needs of retina specialists worldwide.”
