BINOCULAR TELESCOPIC GLASSES
Eschenbach's Max TV head-mounted glasses provide 2.1x magnification and can be adjusted so that each eye lens can be focused separately (±3 diopters), making the system adaptable to most patients. The glasses focus on objects from distances 10 feet to infinity, and are suited for watching TV, sporting events, movies, theatre, and birdwatching or any other distance viewing activity in which a magnified image would be helpful.
The Galilean lens design provides a wide field of view (20 degrees) and the frame is modern looking and includes flexible temples for a comfortable fit.

PreserVision soft gels AREDS formula is an easy-to-swallow supplement to be taken twice a day. |
|
OCULAR NUTRITION
Bausch & Lomb is introducing two new soft gel versions of its patented eye health nutritional supplement. The first is the PreserVision AREDS formula. The vitamin and nutritional supplement contains a formula -- the Age-Related Eye Disease Study (AREDS) formula -- that was involved in the landmark 10-year National Eye Institute study of the same name. In that study -- results were released in October 2001 -- study participants who were at the highest risk for developing advanced AMD lowered their risk by about 25% when treated with the high-potency vitamin and mineral supplement contained in the PreserVision supplement.
The other supplement is the PreserVision Soft Gels Lutein formula, with the same easy-to-swallow, twice-a-day dosing, containing the beneficial eye nutrient lutein, which replaces the beta-carotene in the original PreserVision formula. Lutein is added to promote general eye health.

TEST CARDS
IXMUS introduces novel blue-on-yellow, blue-on-red and white-on-red Amsler grids and combination Red Dots field test cards for macular and neuro-ophthalmic disease detection. The foldable pocket cards are designed for office eye exams and for self-monitoring by the patient.
The advanced patterns use low, intermediate, and high-contrast high-resolution grid patterns to overcome the poor disease detection sensitivity of the conventional black-and-white Amsler test cards.

GRIESHABER ADDITIONS
Alcon has introduced new products into its Grieshaber line. The following vitreoretinal surgical products are now available:
A The 25 g ILM (705.44) Conformal Forceps are disposable, and their end-grasping design makes them suitable for maculorexis or other fine membrane grasping. According to Alcon, surgeons like the forceps because of their broader platform that allows for smoother and easier ILM pinching, grasping, and peeling.
A The new 25 g grasper removes 25-, 20-, and 19-g trocar plugs. The grasper's cross action supports easy transfer from scrub nurse to surgeon in the operating room.
