Successful Outcomes in Patients with Exudative Age Related Macular Degeneration
Optimize the experience for your patients with Age Related Macular Degeneration (AMD) by understanding dosing frequencies, utilizing the treat-and-extend approach, and developing a standard follow-up protocol.
After completing this activity, the participant should be better able to:
- Develop a standard follow-up protocol to manage patients with exudative AMD from diagnosis through long-term care
- Determine how frequency of dosing differs between patients, identifying patients who can achieve 12-week dosing intervals with currently available therapies
- Understand the utility of the treat-and-extend approach to anti-vascular endothelial growth factor (VEFG) therapy based on measurable visual and anatomic parameters
- Identify factors that may affect patient response to therapy and select anti-VEGF therapy appropriately
- Identify best practices for optimizing the patient experience through AMD treatments and discuss lean practice models for delivery of care given the frequency of visits
